Her Code is a 12-week programme for girls aged 8–18. Working in small mentor-led teams, they design and build a real mobile app that solves a problem they care about. No coding experience required.

Girls don’t just learn to code – they learn to create, solve and lead.
They work together to identify a problem they care about, come up with their own solution and use technology to turn their idea into reality. From developing their app to testing their ideas and preparing to present their work, every stage is a chance to learn, experiment and grow.
And they’re not doing it alone. With a mentor alongside them, they have the support, encouragement and guidance to keep going, overcome challenges and see just how far their ideas can take them.
Teams research their own community and choose an issue that genuinely matters to them.
Over 12 weeks, teams design, code, and test a working web/mobile app addressing that problem.
Teams present their finished app, Technovation-style, and get real feedback.

Her Code follows the official Technovation season. Here are the key dates for UK students, mentors and Club Leaders – register early so your team has time to build.
Students and mentors can register on the Technovation platform and start forming teams.

Mentors don’t need to be developers. They need to be reliable, encouraging, and willing to show up with 1–2 hrs onboarding, then 2–4 hrs a week commitment. Enhanced DBS check is required – we’ll guide you through it.

No. Her Code is designed for complete beginners as well as girls who already have some experience. Mentors adjust to each team’s starting point.
Yes. Her Code is free for girls aged 8–18 to participate in. We believe every girl should have the opportunity to explore technology, develop her confidence and turn her ideas into action, regardless of her background or financial circumstances.
AspireHer works with schools, partners and sponsors to make the programme accessible to girls from all backgrounds.
No. Mentors guide the team’s process, collaboration, and confidence – not just the code. Non-technical mentors are welcome and valued.
